EDITOR / COLOURIST / DIRECTOR
Matt specialises in editing and colour grading TVCs and online content.
With over 15 year’s experience editing for broadcast, his career highlights include 6+ years working as the Snr Editor at The Monkeys, formative years at Post Production houses such as Engine and Endemol Shine and most recently working with Enigma as their Editor/Colourist and Post Production Manager. As an editor working closely with agencies and creative teams he’s also an integrated creative thinker, tackling briefs for major clients such as Telstra, M.L.A, MJH, NRMA & Qantas.
It’s said that good editors make good directors. Matt has directed TVCs for the Spotify syndicated ‘Who is Daniel John’s’ podcast & The Newcastle Knights, and content for Blackmores, Crown Bet and IKEA.
He also feels weird talking about himself in the 3rd person…

Long Form
Working along side Director - David Maurice Smith, Matt created a docu-series of stories to shine a light on the great work that is happening at The University of Newcastle. Matt worked with David to carefully craft these stories to remain true to the voice of each of the interviewees, but to also condense them into an engaging 3 - 6min edit to be shared online and in cinema.

Hi, I'm Matt.
I'm an editor, colour grader, director, photographer and creative thinker.
For the last 3 years I’ve been working with the creative agency Enigma as their Post Production Manager and Snr Editor/Colourist. I’m very hands on in this role, working with creative teams to take an idea from the creative deck, to a pitch winning mood reel, to a preproduction doc, to creating the final TVC. Being so close to the ideation and execution of these ideas has meant I’m really able to deliver on what the creatives and client hoped to see in the edit suite. From picture- lock to Adstream, I’m responsible for everything but the mix. And where the compositing or 3D work is outside of my ability, I’m responsible for directing freelance Flame Ops & Maya artists to make sure it’s creatively aligned.
As part of expanding my role at Enigma I’ve also moved into Directing which has felt like a natural progression for me.
Prior to Enigma I was the Senior Editor for the creative agency "The Monkeys" for 6 years. I worked closely with the creative teams at The Monkeys and with some of the best producers in the industry.
As the Senior Editor at The Monkeys, I expanded my role to include: lighting/shooting, editing, grading, mixing, writing and art direction.
I have also worked as an Editor/After effects opp/ Camera and Lighting Opp for Havas Worldwide, TBWA/Whybin, Arcamedia (Melborne), RedApe and Liaison Creative.
I have D.O.P experience and have excellent knowledge of professional cameras and lighting equipment.
I use After Effects (Keying/compositing), Premier, Avid, Photoshop, Indesign, Media Encoder, Mocha, Auto Desk Lustre and DaVinci Resolve.
Before The Monkeys, I worked at Engine for 4 years.
While at Engine I Graded & Edited. This role gave me the opportunity to Edit/Grade TVCs, Short films, music videos and art installations as well as create motion graphics. I also honed my attention to detail here, doing roto work for flame artists and tech checking masters.
Prior to Engine, I worked as an Edit Assistant and Assembly Editor for Shine Australia. Delivering long-form timelines for TV as well as assisting Online Editors.
I am also a freelance professional photographer. I've been published most recently in White Magazine and Cosmo. I have also exhibited work around Australia as a finalist for the National Photographic Portrait Prize, The Moran Photographic Prize and through my time as a teacher at Charles Sturt University, I was involved with a number of local exhibitions.
